Stay In A Boutique Apartment In Mayfair Rather than A Hotel

London is one of the great capital cities of the world, with a population approaching 9 million, speaking a plethora of languages, and a considerable cultural diversity. The city also has some 19 million visitors every year, and the one thing they all have in common – whether they are here to conduct business or here for a holiday – is that they need somewhere to stay.

It is fair to say that the majority of them will stay in a hotel, perhaps because they always have done in the past, or perhaps because they don’t know that there is a very viable alternative, and that is to rent one of the boutique apartments in Mayfair.

Renting one of the boutique apartments in Mayfair has several advantages over staying in a hotel. To begin with, in an apartment you just have so much more space. In a hotel, you just have your room, and that’s it. If you want to sit and watch TV in the evening, you are effectively sitting in your bedroom watching it. In an apartment, you have a reception room/lounge in the same way that you do at home, so you can relax on a sofa, watch TV in comfort, and pour yourself a drink without it costing a small fortune from a minibar. You just buy beer or vodka or whatever your favourite tipple is and pay shop prices rather than hotel prices.

Many of the boutique apartments in Mayfair that are available to rent are fully serviced, so you have a maid to make the beds and do the cleaning. You will have the latest TV sets which usually have access to a multitude of channels, and there may very possibly be a music system installed as well.

Some of these apartments have luxury king sized beds which you often don’t get in a hotel. Another important point is that you can easily invite guests to your apartment which you can’t do in a hotel bedroom. The only thing you don’t get is a restaurant, but then Mayfair has many of the top restaurants in the UK if you want to eat out.

Booking An Apartment When Visiting London

If you are going to visit London you obviously need somewhere to stay, and unless you have relatives here you really only have two choices. Some people would think that there is only one answer and that is to stay in a hotel, but you can also book an apartment in London

If you book a hotel you pretty much know what to expect. You get a hotel room, breakfast and dinner are served in the restaurant within fixed hours, a maid comes in during the morning and makes the bed, there is a minibar, and downstairs there is a large lounge and bar which you share with 100 other people. And that’s it.

However, when you book an apartment in London you will find that the facilities provided can vary considerably. To begin with, apartments come in varying sizes: some can sleep just two people while others may sleep six or even eight. The number of bedrooms will vary and some will have an en-suite bathroom while others may have separate bathroom and toilet facilities. You should get a good sized reception room, and there may be a separate dining room. Certainly, you should get a fully fitted kitchen with a dishwasher, washing machine, and tumble dryer, but there may be a separate utility room. With some apartments in London you may even get a small garden. Whatever the size of the apartment, you should have double the space that you would get in a hotel bedroom.

Some apartments have a considerable number of extra facilities. You may get a maid service, and of course there should be high speed broadband, which in a hotel you may be charged extra for. Some apartments have TV’s in all the rooms and some have access to multiple channels in a variety of languages. Some also come with a full time concierge and on-site security, and in a small number of cases you may even have a parking space. Most will have a music system, and may have things such as an iPad dock or your own personal safe for your valuables.

If you are going to book an apartment in London you really do need to check exactly what is included.

Living Out Of A Suitcase Can Get Depressing

If you are a businessman and involved in visiting different cities, the idea of living out of a suitcase can become distinctly tedious. This is especially the case if you are cooped up in a hotel room for weeks on end, which can happen if your business requires you to visit different cities and countries. Sure, for the first few days when you arrive in a new city everything is new and different, and you can spend your free time exploring and meeting different people. However exciting that may be, you still have to return to those four walls every night and it can actually get depressing.

This is why more people than ever are choosing a luxury apartment in London when they have to visit the capital. Quite simply, it becomes a home from home: you have it to yourself, and you have more space than you ever will in a hotel room.

Things To See and Do In Mayfair

Mayfair is one of the most affluent areas of London and gets its’ name from the May Fair which was actually held every two weeks for 100 years until it stopped in 1764. Today, there is plenty to do in Mayfair, including visiting one of the many art galleries and museums in the area which include the well-known Royal Academy of Arts.

The composer Handel lived here and it is where he wrote The Messiah. Jimi Hendrix also lived here with his girlfriend in Berkeley Square and wrote some of his most famous songs. You can visit both their houses.
