Staying In London Is Not Cheap

Let’s face it, London is the capital of England and like most capital cities it is overcrowded and expensive. Wherever you go and whatever you do, you are going to pay more for it than you would out in “the sticks” as a lot of people refer to the countryside. Taxi fares are dear, restaurants are expensive, the price of a “pint” – a large beer – is a lot more than anywhere else. Even shopping for food – meat, fruit, and veg – costs more than it does a few miles away in the suburbs, while the hotel rates are frankly nothing short of astronomical.

However, that is the way of the world. Hoteliers, shop owners, and restaurateurs know that you don’t have a choice, so they can pretty much charge what they like.

Not Quite True
However, that is not quite true when it comes to somewhere to stay. Instead of staying in a hotel you could opt for one of the short stay apartments in Central London that are available and it will cost you a lot less. The services that are supplied by the owners of these apartments can vary quite considerably, but some of them offer the same luxury that you would get in a first class hotel in Park Lane, even to the extent of providing a daily maid service so that you don’t have to make your bed.

Furthermore, while shopping for food and drinks is more expensive in the West End than further out in the suburbs, you will still pay considerably less for your food than eating in the hotel restaurant, and a round of drinks will be a lot less than the same round in a hotel bar.

So by opting for a short stay apartment rather than a hotel, you get all the comforts of home and you will make huge savings into the bargain.
